Your role

Do you have excellent stakeholder management skills and are you able to prioritize business needs for multiple scrum teams, linking into the bank-wide portfolio with a strategic perspective? Have you done so in the Data, (Regulatory) Reporting, BI and/or Finance areas? In a bank or similar organization? Join our team at FMO as Chief Product Owner (CPO)!

As the Chief Product Owner of our Business Intelligence, Reporting & Data domain (BIRD) at FMO, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction and priorities of this area and hence the scrum teams within the domain. The broad purpose is to support FMO's mission by harnessing data and insights to enable accurate and timely decisions / reporting, leading to inclusive and sustainable prosperity.

BIRD is one of the agile domains covering the full breadth of tech-enablement at FMO. The domain includes four scrum teams. Two teams work on improving the Data & Insights Platform. Another team concentrates on the Regulatory Reporting process and its systems. Meanwhile, a new cross-functional team seeks to upgrade the systems used by the Finance & Control department.

Following a DevOps approach, the intention is that all 'change and run' requirements within the space are effectively addressed, regardless of scale or complexity.

The Chief Product Owner of the BIRD domain is a key connector between FMO's strategy and the bank-wide change portfolio, and the teams that develop and maintain the data & reporting platforms.

Your key responsibilities:

• Define and articulate the vision and strategic direction for the agile domain, aligning with the bank-wide portfolio perspective and business objectives.
• Serve as the key liaison between the agile domain and senior management, translating business strategy into actionable product roadmaps and backlogs.
• Work alongside other CPOs with Project Owners and Project Managers to address 'big-picture' dependencies between change initiatives affecting the BIRD domain.
• Ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to epic and feature level articulation / planning through close alignment with the scrum teams.
• Work closely with the scrum Product Owners within the domain to prioritize and coordinate development efforts across the multiple scrum teams, ensuring efficient delivery of high-value features and enhancements.
• Facilitate cross-team collaboration, ensuring alignment and consistency in product development across the bank.
• Leverage extensive experience in data & reporting within banks to provide strategic insights and guidance to teams, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
• Champion FMO's scaled agile governance model, mentoring teams and stakeholders in agile best practices and principles.

Your team

The Business Intelligence & Analytics team was established set up to further professionalize and strengthen our strategic Data and Information Management capabilities. We work closely with the Data Management team. Together, we arrange and enhance FMO's Data and Information Management. This includes Data Governance, Quality, and Architecture. It also covers Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, and Analytics.

The Business Intelligence & Analytics team consists of 16 DWH, BI, Analytics and QA professionals. It plays a key role in managing data as a strategic business asset. It ensures information is consistent and uniform, based on high-quality data. This process provides insights that inform decision-making.

Competencies needed

• Strategic thinking and planning.
• Customer / end-user focus and with an organizational view on prioritization.
• Data-driven decision-making.
• Cross-functional collaboration and leadership in an agile environment.
• Appreciation of portfolio management, credit management, risk, finance, regulatory reporting, and data management imperatives within financial institutions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (proficient in English).

Preferred background

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in agile product ownership, system change or a related field.
• Experience with Agile ways of working as a Product Owner, Chief Product Owner, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with effective change management approaches.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
