Grants - Women, Peace and Security (Maternity Cover)

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

The Grants Coordinator is responsible for the quality and effectiveness of the implementation of NIMD donor contracts (grants) and ensures coordination with all relevant stakeholders, consortium members and the donor, in order to be compliant with the requested requirements and to support the achievement of the grant objectives.

The position relates specifically to the coordination of two large grants; the Women's Leadership and Participation for Peace programme ( LEAP4Peace ), which is funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of their Women, Peace and Security agenda, for the period 2021-2025, and the Rapid Response Window of the Women, Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) funded by UN Women .

You are an experienced development professional with hands-on experience in managing or supporting programmes or projects related to inclusive governance and democratization. You work in a structured manner and can coordinate stakeholders under strict deadlines. You understand political dynamics and are excited to support democratic values and inclusive dialogue processes. You have experience in supporting country offices and partner organizations, and in ensuring programmatic quality. You find creative solutions when contexts change and are committed to achieving results and lasting impact. You are keen to share your expertise and contribute to organizational learning. You have a strong affinity with NIMD's core themes, especially on women's political participation and women, peace and security. You speak excellent English and one other relevant NIMD country programme language (Spanish and/or French).

Grant management

  • Ensures programme objectives in NIMD grants are met within the agreed boundaries of time, money and thematic focus.
  • Ensures compliance with donor requirements and coordinates the overall set-up of grant systems and procedures.
  • Works with Contracting & Finance Specialists and PM&E Officers to provide and support programme partners with fit-for-purpose procedures, tools and formats.
  • Identifies needs for organisational support and substantive capacity building for partner organisations and country offices.
  • Is responsible for the planning and reporting cycle of programmes in the grant agreements.
  • Ensures all required information is uploaded and available in the project management system.
  • Identifies and coordinates the grant-making processes for local civil society organisations.

Consortium coordination

  • Is the institutional focal point for NIMD consortia and is responsible for the entire grant/programme management cycle, including steering committee coordination, consortium member alignment, joint learning, programme adaptation, cross-cutting thematic knowledge development and international lobby and advocacy.
  • Coordinates the secretariat and its support to the consortia and alliances in which NIMD is included.

Representation and thematic development

  • Fulfils a representational role for the relevant consortia, its objectives and themes, both in the Netherlands and in programme countries.
  • Supports knowledge processes linked to Women's Political Participation and WPS.
  • Advises the Management Team about relevant content developments, networks, and contributes to the (thematic) positioning of NIMD.

Requirements

  • Academic degree in a relevant subject.
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in the area of international cooperation, of which at least 3 years in working in programme and/or grants management, donor compliance and coordination of international consortia or programmes.
  • Experience in working with political and civic actors in the area of inclusive governance and democratization, and/or women, peace and security.
  • Experience in working for the political participation of women is a clear advantage.
  • Excellent command of the English language is needed, and mastery of at least either French or Spanish is a clear benefit.
  • Politically sensitive and good intercultural and personal communication and coaching skills.
  • Structured and well-organized, with a hands-on attitude.
  • A team player, but also able to work independently.
  • Skilled in providing (technical) support and advice remotely.
  • Able to work effectively (online and in person) with people from different contexts and cultures.
  • Committed to NIMD core values regarding gender equality, integrity and respect for diversity.

We offer a position for 32- 38 hours, depending on candidate preference, at our office in The Hague, to cover a maternity leave from January until the end of September . You will work in the Grant Management Team under the guidance of the Head of Programmes & Knowledge. Under normal circumstances, this position involves occasional international travel.

NIMD offers a competitive remuneration package, including a laptop and mobile phone. The salary level corresponds to the Dutch Government salary framework (COA RIJK) for scale 1 1 ( between EUR 3662.77 - EUR 5586.12 gross per month depending on experience and based on 38 hours per week). In addition, NIMD offers a flexible and fun work environment with good secondary benefits, including an individual training budget.
