Your role

The Financial Institutions Department at FMO is looking for a Structured Finance (Senior) Associate to join the NASIRA team, which currently consists of 8 people in total: 3 Structured Finance Specialists, 2 Portfolio Officers, 1 Portfolio Analyst, 1 Project Coordinator and the team Manager. The Structured Finance (Senior) Associate will report to the Manager of FI Nasira team. The role contains a wide variety of tasks for which you will need to collaborate closely with many internal and external stakeholders. The job spans across all geographies within FMO's mandate.

Your responsibilities

• Performing (on/off site) due diligence on financial institutions and MSME loan portfolios (significant travel required);
• Performing quantitative analysis on large data sets of various MSME loan types to support investment decisions;
• Structuring transactions, drafting/negotiating terms-sheets, and providing solutions to clients;
• Drafting due-diligence findings and investment proposals for Investment Credit Committee;
• Supporting deal execution and client relationship as part of the deal team;
• Operating the credit portfolio model (runs in R) to calculate the expected losses of Nasira transactions.

In this function, it is key to be able to interact with both internal (Investment officers, Managers of other FI teams, Credit department etc.) and external stakeholders (clients, European Commission, consultants) to develop business, explain and negotiate the characteristics of the Nasira program.

Our offer

We offer a gross yearly salary of between EUR 60 - 80K per year (including holiday allowance). We also have an annual personal development budget for EUR 2,700. Besides that: a combination of working at the office and from home (50-50%) and 60 days working remotely abroad (if you wish), mobility allowance and 31 holidays.

FMO and the FI Nasira team

FMO's Financial Institutions (FI) department invests in financial institutions that deliver strong impact for their local economies and communities.

FMO developed a risk sharing program which takes the form of a loan portfolio guarantee / securitisation called Nasira to enable and stimulate financial institutions to invest in underserved Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Eastern Europe & Central Asia (ECA) and Middle East & Northern Africa (MENA) and Sub-Saharan Africa region (SSA). The program is partially guaranteed by the European Commission and Dutch Government Fund (MASSIF). The objective is to grow and roll out this program to also Asia and Latin America in the coming years.

Your background

1. Master's degree in Economics, Business Administration, Engineering or comparable studies;
2. Knowledge of the credit products, credit processes, MSME lending and emerging markets.
3. Track record in execution or monitoring in a banking, consultancy or rating agency environment (in particular in securitisation, guarantee products, and/or risk sharing facilities is beneficial) and;
4. Understanding of R codes or programming is beneficial but not mandatory.
